Aritomo Murashige (7 January 1895-24 March 1964) was a first
generation student of Morihei Ueshiba - O'Sensei - the Founder
of Aikido as we know it today. Murashige practised with the
founder from 1931 to 1953, and moved to Belgium and taught there
until his death in an accident at the age of 69.
The major influences in Tony Thielemans’ Aikido style
have been the notable names of Aritomo Murashige, Nobuyoshi
Tamura and Andre Nocquet. The style practiced within Yama Arashi
UK is based in traditional Aikido from the teachings of Thielemans
sensei, but progressively seeks to refine techniques in line
with the wishes of O'Sensei that Aikido must still evolve. |
